What is an IP Address? How to Find IP

We can explain what IP address, which is the abbreviation of the term Internet Protocol Address, is with a simple example. Just like every citizen has a nationality number, every device that connects to the internet has a unique number. This number is called an IP address. IP address identifies who you are on the Internet. Just as a policeman looks at your identification number to identify you, a website or an app looks at the IP address to which your device is connected, that is, to identify who it is.

Not only the devices we use, but also the websites have a unique IP address. Sometimes they have an IP address shared and sometimes just their own. Usually, websites get the IP addresses of the servers they are located on. Since servers are a device that connects to the internet, they need to go online by obtaining an identification number, just like the devices in our home and in our hands.

One of the things that should not be forgotten is that we cannot connect to the internet without having an IP address. If your device does not have an IP address, then it will not be allowed to access the Internet. The modems we use in our homes today connect us to the internet. If we cannot connect to the internet, it is probably because our modem cannot obtain an IP address. In such a case, we call our internet provider and they intervene in our modem and give a new IP address or investigate the reason for not being able to get an IP and enable it to get an IP. Therefore, the most basic concept that shows whether we are connected to the internet is our IP address.

How about the IP address?

IP addresses consist of four separate numbers separated by dots. In other words, they consist of four 8-bit numbers separated by dots. Address 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 is an IP address. 192.168.1.1 Is an IP address. The numbers you see like this on your computer make up IP addresses. However, these can also be local IP addresses. For example, your internet provider will give you an IP address such as 84.24.XX.XX when your home internet connection is established. And every device that connects to your modem goes to the internet with this IP address. However, your modem or router also needs to know who the devices connected to it are. If four people at home are connected to the modem, it gives each of them separate local IP addresses. These local IP addresses are usually addresses starting with 198.168.xx. If someone asks you what your IP address is when you go on the internet, it is your internet IP address you should give them, not your local IP address. Often users confuse the local IP with the IP address from which they go to the Internet. This  is how you can recognize them.

However, numbers in an IP address can have a maximum of three digits and cannot be greater than 254.

How can I find my internet IP address?

So, since our local IP address is only related to the modem or router, how can we find it when we need the IP address that we go to the internet? There are many ways to achieve this. The easiest way is by entering the Google search engine, “What is my IP Address? Making a search like”. The first 3 resulting websites will tell you you’re IP address.

Alternatively, if you can connect to your modem interface, the internet connection section of the modem interface will tell you which IP address you are connected to. It will show you "Not Connected" even if you have not been able to connect to the internet. In this case, you can call your internet provider and tell them that you cannot get an IP.

What are the Types of IP Addresses?

We can define IP addresses statically and dynamically in two different ways. The so-called static IP is used to describe a fixed and immutable IP number. For example, if you want the service you receive from your internet provider to be with Static IP, they will define you a fixed IP address. And whenever you go on the internet, your IP address stays the same. This IP address stays with you permanently, and nobody else can have this IP address.

Dynamic IP is the type of IP that can change. If you have not requested a static IP, you will be given a dynamic IP for internet services that you connect to at home. In this case, you will be given a new IP address every time you turn your modem off and on.

If you have a website, the IP you have will be static. In other words, this IP address does not change every time your site is entered. Of course, with Cloud systems, it is now possible to assign a different IP to each country. However, the server IP address will basically remain the same.

There are also two types of IP protocols. These are IPv4 and IPv6 protocols. Currently widely used IP addresses work over IPv4. Because it is compatible with all devices. However, these addresses, which consist of four digits and can reach a maximum of 254, are limited. Mathematically, they can be generated up to 4.3 billion IP addresses. In the internet age, this is not enough. With the increase of devices entering the Internet, it will be possible to have an IP finding problem day by day. Therefore, IPv6 protocol is waiting for us for the future.

IPv6 IP addresses are made up of numbers separated by octal blocks and separated by colons. They are written in four hexadecimal digits in each block. For example, 2500: DD93: 1292: 0000: 0000: 0000: 0002. Here, groups containing 0 are ignored to save space and thus do not take up space. All newly released devices now come with IPv6 support and internet standards will change and replace IPv4 in the near future.

Who Are These Hosting Companies Suitable For?

Any of the hosting companies described below is a great choice for you unless you are a business with more than 500,000 views per month. Remember that all hosting companies allow you to grow your capacity as your traffic or service demands increase.

How Do We Decide?

In order to decide between hosting services, you need to pay attention to the following different features. Let's examine them one by one.

Uptime / Reliability

To understand this, basically consider how often your website crashes. For a large commercial business, this can be disastrous. You lose your customers and you will definitely lose your trust in your brand. Quality hosting service almost never crashes and works as planned. Often times, you will receive a notification that there will be a scheduled maintenance repair or other technical issue. Quality hosting services plan by taking all these possibilities into account, and such processes occur only while your site is sleeping. Some of the sites we tested had over 1800 outages.

Site Acceleration

We all want a fast website that doesn't lag or slow down. The modern client is pampered and times longer than 5 seconds seem too long for him. This is even more important in mobile accelerated pages. In many parts of the world as well as the feedback we received both past decade has allowed us to compare the average load time in Turkey. We compared these results to average US speeds to track load times. The most recorded load times were:  226 ms and above the absolute worst 2850 ms (roughly 11.5 times slower).

Customer Support

Customer support is a big factor. Some hosting companies make you wait all day, while others provide excellent service by answering your questions within a few seconds. We've even worked with some hosting companies that don't live chat and use an old system. Let's face it. You want a company that provides hosting services 24/7. I can definitely say that our top three servers are the best when it comes to hosting support. Top companies have won awards for their very high quality customer service. We didn't need to test customer service because we used it for a while.

Here are some features of a good hosting support

·         Chat live with a customer representative who speaks your native language

·         Don't bother with a recording system that takes days to get answers

·         Service agency's ability to solve technical problems

·         Friendly and professional service

·         Response Time

·         Sufficient number of technical personnel with sufficient resources

·         Having sufficient experience and quality references in this business

·         The satisfaction of the customers they have served until today

·         Sufficient trial period and money back guarantee

·         Providing service at affordable prices without sacrificing quality

·         Infrastructure that can compensate for any problem in a short time

·         Most importantly, systematic and regular BACKUP systems

·         Avoid cheap web hosting services.

I don't think I stress this enough, because over the past few years we've dealt with hundreds of businesses looking to move their existing hosting to another provider, add new features, or fix technical issues. It is important to realize that some in the web's hosting industry are trying to make large sums of money from scams and beginners (we're talking millions of dollars). These types of hosting services are both vulnerable to security breaches and use extremely low quality servers that you will not be satisfied with customer satisfaction.

If you pay cheap hosting, you'll spend a lot of time switching to another hosting provider, and as long as you use a cheaper provider, you'll have to pay three to four times more for add-ons.

It is vital for new business owners or bloggers to save money in the beginning, but don't choose your web hosting cheap and avoid any disruptions that will disrupt your business later.

What Are the Different Types of Hosting?

It can be a bit tiring when you first start reading about different options for hosting services. Each hosting service promises to be the "best" for your own needs, and there seem to be endless options. Price levels make this even more uncertain.

Some providers aim to offer you very affordable rates for very cheap fees of $ 1-2 a month. Others offer free hosting. Although new internet users often buy powerful hosting packages, they actually don't need it.

The basic principle we adhere to is simple - get a simple hosting solution and then grow up to the upper packages.

Web Hosting with Private IP Address

Web Hosting with Private IP Address

In order to publish every web page you have prepared on the internet, you need a server (a computer) where the files of your website will be located. This service is called "hosting" (Website Hosting). In this way, the pages, images, and other information on your website are hosted on a server (webserver) and internet users can access your website with various internet browsers. So these computers are devices designed and developed for your site to work.

Hosting service ensures everyone can reach your website. In addition, hosting services provided by different companies must have the necessary features for the sites to work. Stingers are actually a type of computer. However, these computers are much more powerful than the computers we use personally at home, and thanks to these servers, an uninterrupted hosting service can be provided.

Servers are stored in special areas called datacentre, also known as a data center. A system engineer, generator, air conditioner, metro internet (high-speed internet) must be present in these areas. When all these components are brought together, it means that server and hosting services are provided. Both internet sites and e-mail addresses establish a connection with the computers of internet users through these servers via imp protocol.

These servers should be specially designed for private or legal persons to publish their websites, have a very fast connection to the internet backbone, and can provide seamless service to thousands of users at the same time. In order for these servers to provide uninterrupted internet service, they must be open and accessible 24 hours a day. There are hundreds of different companies around the world that provide web hosting services and these companies have hosting packages with different content. For this reason, the features, capacity, and up-to-datedness of the servers of the hosting companies are important and are among the things you should pay attention to when choosing among different companies.

Today, many local and foreign companies provide hosting services and allocate a place to the internet site owners to activate the domain name they receive. The mentioned space allocation process (hosting) is charged monthly or annually, and a payment plan is created almost by leasing. The main issues that internet users should take into consideration while evaluating the quality of hosting service are as follows;

·         Speed (The speed at which your site opens)

·         The size of the space allocated to you for your website (MB)

·         Server support

Let's explain them one by one in order of importance.

Screenshot_3SPEED: The pages and page contents of your website loading speed emerges as a very important factor here. There are two different reasons why internet pages come slow or fast. The first of these is the reasons arising from the computer/device that you connect to the Internet not having sufficient capacity. The second is the reasons arising from the hosting service, or rather the server of the company you are hosting. If the internet speed of the server from which you receive hosting is low or if it provides hosting services that are much higher than its capacity, naturally the loading speed of your pages will also slow down. In addition, let us remind you that the size of your pages and the programs they are prepared for are effective in speed. Because some internet sites are created with flash and animation programs.

Size of the Space Allocated to You for Your Website: The size of the space reserved for you (how many megabytes) also varies according to the fee you will pay. The more capacity required for your site, which you will prepare according to your subject and your needs, the more hosting space you will want. If you are thinking of a comprehensive and diverse site, the size of the space allocated to your website will be large. The area to be reserved is critical in two respects; the first is in terms of the size of the site to be prepared as we mentioned before, and the second is in terms of e-mails. Because as a result of the design, both the data on your site and the e-mails occupy the same area. If the allocated hosting space is not too much, problems may occur in your mail traffic after a certain period of time.

Server Support:  Another critical issue in web hosting service is that the programs you use and the server you rent support the database. Nowadays, websites fulfill different functions (such as job application forms, request forms, credit card trade) with the help of different forms designed besides promotion. Coding with different programming languages (such as ASP, PHP, and SQL) is required to prepare such forms. For example, for an ASP-supported website to work, programs compatible with forms designed with ASP must be installed on the server-side of the site.

For the last ten years, we have been using a self-developed system to monitor our customers' websites. With a portfolio, we monitor nearly a thousand websites and record them on an internal dashboard. We used historical data from our internal site tracker to export data and to run multiple cross-over analysis.

How to Use This Manual

To simplify everything and avoid distracting you with hundreds of options out there, we prioritized the recommended hosting services. The hosting service we reviewed in the first place is also the most recommended service. We do not recommend services other than the top three hosting services based on the tests of our hosts.
